We have succeeded in an international tender. We are participating in the extension of the safe operation of the Metsamor power plant in the South Caucasus
Our company, VUJE, a. s., has signed a contract lasting more than two years with the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. As part of this contract, a team of experts from the Engineering Services and Implementation Division will conduct laboratory qualification on several selected facilities.

Components important for nuclear safety, such as motors, cables, pressure sensors, and other smaller elements from switchgear equipment, will be qualified. The goal of the project is to demonstrate the reliability of these components and thereby contribute to extending the plant's lifespan by another decade!
This is an important part of a major task. Among other things, it is necessary to demonstrate that critical equipment—whether new or already in operation for a long time—will be able to operate safely in the coming years and fulfill its safety role in the event of an accident.
The project awarded to our company through an international tender will significantly contribute to the continued safe operation of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant in the South Caucasus.

This is the former EBO-V1 NPP simulator, which our company, VUJE, a. s., redesigned in 2013 as part of its upgrade.
The qualification will be conducted through type tests, a method that prioritizes the functional capability of equipment under conditions that are comparable to or more demanding than those defined by the plant’s design at their installation locations.
"We are contributing to the extension of the lifespan and safe operation of the Armenian nuclear power plant, thereby supporting the safe and stable production of energy in the region," emphasizes Michal Majchrák, Director of the Engineering Services and Implementation Division at VUJE, a. s.
The goal is to confirm that these devices can operate reliably throughout their designed lifespan, even when considering factors such as aging, wear, and the impact of operational events.
"By qualifying safety-critical equipment in nuclear power plants, we ensure their ability to perform the design safety functions under the assumed operating conditions, including accident conditions, such as a loss-of-coolant accident - LOCA," explains Michal Majchrák.
The Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant in Armenia is the only nuclear power plant in the South Caucasus. It is equipped with two VVER-440/270 nuclear reactors, one of which is operational, with an installed capacity of 407.5 MW. It generates 40% of the country's electricity, making it a key energy source in Armenia.
