Media about the success of VUJE and PPA CONTROLL: Slovaks triumph in Britain. They are building a new nuclear power plant

On the same day as the Slovak government confirmed its ambition to build a new nuclear power plant in our country, the success of VUJE and PPA ENERGO of the PPA CONTROLL group in winning the contract for important work on the construction of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant in the UK was publicised in the Slovak opinion-forming media, including the Slovak Republic Press Agency. For all media outputs we cite an article in the economic media Trend.sk.

The staff from PPA ENERGO, member of PPA CONTROLL group, and VUJE have been certified to meet stringent safety standards for work on the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant site.

The work on the construction of Hinkley Point C is a huge opportunity for the Slovak companies PPA ENERGO of the PPA CONTROLL group, and VUJE to continue their expansion into the foreign market in the nuclear power industry. The new nuclear power station they will be involved in building is estimated to cost more than £46 billion.

It will be located in the south-west of England, with experts predicting a completion date of around 2030. The two new 3,260 megawatt EPR pressurised water reactors are expected to provide power for around six million UK homes.

The investment will create up to 25 thousand jobs. "Our employees from VUJE and our colleagues from PPA ENERGO will carry out highly professional activities where it is not about quantity, but above all about appropriate  expertise and experience," confirms Matej Korec, CEO and Managing Director of VUJE.

"Nuclear power and the construction of new power plants are a huge benefit not only for a given country," adds Peter Spilý, PPA ENERGO's Commercial Director. The cooperation of Slovak companies with Framatome has been going on for years, and a team of PPA ENERGO and VUJE employees have successfully passed the final training and the Client Contractor National Safety Group - Safety Passport exam in the UK.

The task at the Hinkley Point C project is the installation of field instrumentation in the reactor building and SKR rooms. VUJE will be installing some of the sensors and safety systems from the full scope of work. "These are systems for monitoring the main circulation pumps, loose parts leakage in the primary circuit, or neutron flux measurements," clarifies Matej Korec, General Director for VUJE.

Special measurements around the reactor are also one of the tasks. "It's the position of the fuel rods, chemical measurements, specifically of boric acid, or vibration monitoring of the system," defines some of the many parts of the work Peter Spilý for PPA ENERGO.
