At the PVP Pressure Vessels & Piping 2024 Conference in Bellevue, Washington, Our Colleagues from VUJE Also Delivered Presentations
The international conference organized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) consistently gathers experts from over 40 countries worldwide, who also this year presented more than 500 technical papers across 130 sessions, focusing primarily on the topics related to pressure vessels and pipelines.
In Bellevue, Washington, our colleagues from the Structural Analysis Department of the Diagnostics of NPP Division VUJE, a. s., Jana Petzová, Marek Adamech and Dávid Slnek, were also present. They are traditionally an active part of the conference program. Alongside presenting three technical papers in cooperation with colleagues from UJV Řež, they chaired two technical sessions in the Operations, Applications and Components (OAC) section and were involved in the organization of the Materials and Fabrication (MF) section.
The results of testing small samples using the Small Punch Test method within the successfully completed European project STRUMAT-LTO were the subject of two lectures given by Marek Adamech, who as the leader of the research task for testing irradiated SPT samples from the LYRA-10 experiment also presented a joint paper with the Dutch nuclear research institute NRG.

David Slnek's presentation addressed the analysis of surface corrosion and the effects of deposits on the external surface of reactor pressure vessels. A project for developing a device to remove such unwanted corrosion products is currently under development at VUJE.
However, this year’s edition of the conference was notably more exceptional than previous ones.
One of the OAC (Monitoring, Diagnostics and Inspection) sessions, in which Jana Petzová collaborated under the leadership of Radim Kopriva from UJV Řež, was dedicated to the memory of RNDr. Milan Brumovský († July 25, 2023), a renowned expert in the field of evaluation of material properties and durability of components from the nuclear industry.

RNDr. M. Brumovský was a long-time collaborator, consultant, teacher, but also a personal friend to many of us at VUJE, as well as to colleagues from SE, a.s., and ÚJD SR. We collectively express our gratitude for his immense professional support and friendship.
